I have provided scans of the pages Dick appears in. The text is too small to read... this is deliberate. The purpose of the scans is to show other fans the scope of Dick's role. If you want to read, you will need to buy a copy of the comic... and support DC writers and artists.

Summary:
Dick and Damian go about their business watched by a mysterious figure known as "The Insider". The Insider records his musings and reflections on the new Batman and Robin in his White Case book. The Insider, of course, is the returned Bruce Wayne. He mission is to examine his allies and family to see who they have coped in his absence.

The opening lines - "This should be be considered a test. There were expectations of him. Of them both." And so the scene is set for Bruce's evaluation of his sons.

Nicieza captures the spirit of both Dick and Damian and I really enjoy the banter between them. Dick is positive, chipper and competent, while Damian is negative and deadly. However, the complement each other perfectly. It is clear to Bruce that they see all of 'this' as an adventure... not as an obsession. Bruce notes that their methodology is unique... it is not a repeat of he and a young Dick.

Bruce's reflections on Dick - "No matter what else Dick has become, the carnival performer is in his genetics. It makes him who he is... but does it make him Batman?" I really love Nicieza's analysis of this.

We then cross to Vicki who is trying to work out why Bruce and Dick have become Batman. She wants to know what makes them tick. She believes she has them over a barrel because she has found the bug Dick planted on her camera bag. She calls but her message goes to message bank - Bruce either calls her back or she will post what she knows in tomorrow's paper.

Back to the action - a conversation between Dick and Damian where Dick reveals he allowed Killshot to get away to find out more.

Next we have more of Bruce's reflections on Dick. "His confidence level is absurdly high (as it has always been). It's the comfort level I find so curious. At least the weight and motion of the cape should have taken some adjustment... since the burden of the cowl has otherwise been effortless." Again, I really love the way Nicieza sees Dick. Yes, this is how I see it too and it is wonderful to know Bruce sees his eldest son this way.

Bruce's reflections continue - "What is a true testament to his natural social skills is how he has gotten the boy in line." YES! Exactly. This is something Dick did well but sadly, something that seems to have been removed from continuity in the reboot.

Insider has other plans for Killshot and assists him to escape, noting that Damian is deadly and fast but that his weakness is his youth and self-involved nature. Yet again, I think Nicieza has hit the nail on the head.

Dick's lack of concern that Killshot got away caused Bruce some concern. "His casualness is a cause for some concern as is the boy's history and immaturity. But ultimately, those are rationalizations in search of a conclusion. The truth is simple: they have thrived in their new roles." And again, I agree.

Next we cross to Vicki who meets with Bruce Wayne - actually Elliot who has been impersonating Bruce since his disappearance. Unfortunately we find out later he didn't convince her he was Bruce Wayne.

Dick and Damian track down Killshot while Insider watches. "Seeing them tonight puts much into perspective."

Finally, we see Bruce's face of the first time when he takes off his Insider mask in the presence of Tim and states, "They were excellent. They worked very well together, Tim. Better than I could have expected. Truth to tell, I'm not sure anyone as missed me at all." An interesting statement.

I think Nicieza did a wonderful job of this story. My only criticism is that while Bruce seems to trust Tim enough to reveal what he is up to and that he is back, he doesn't do the same with Dick and Damian. I would understand if he wanted to get things organized before revealing he was back to a kid, but Dick isn't a kid. He is the person who shouldered everything for Bruce while he was away. As a matter of fact, by the end of Road Home, Tim, Vicki, Selina, Ra's and Barbara all know... but not Dick. I think that is a real slap in the face.

Summary:
Tim continues his mission for Bruce enlisting the help of Prudence. Bruce tests Tim out and expresses his concern about Tim's partnership with Prudence. At the end we see Prudence on the phone to Ra's al Ghul. Vicki meets with Alfred and is stunned when he admits everything to her but points out he will deny it. Of course, Alfred has removed Vicki's evidence and substitued it with a harmless toy. Got to love Alfred.

In this story, Dick is only mentioned. I find it sad that when Bruce is reflecting on Dick and Damian he refers to Dick as "Dick Grayson" and Damian as 'my son'. A shame Nicieza didn't script the entire series for I get the feeling he sees Dick as Bruce's son.

Summary:
Dick is seen as an image on a monitor and is mentioned in this story.

Stephanie comes up against Insider and finally he reveals who he is... yes, to her not to Dick. Can you tell that really bugs me?

In this story, Bruce compares Dick to Stephanie and muses they are not dissimilar. I'm sorry, Stephanie simply isn't in Dick's league. I can only hope Bruce is refering to the fact that Stephanie talks and puns while she fights.

Finally, Dick is mentioned by Vicki Vale when she accosts Barbara and states that she knows she was the former Batgirl.
